In the month of February 245 patients did not attend their appointment at the surgery. This many missed appointments amounts to over 40 hours of wasted time. Please remember to cancel your appointment if you cannot make it to the surgery, this allows the reception staff to re-book your appointment so somebody else can be seen.

--------------------------------- Cervical Screening

Ladies please check with reception if your smear is due. Every year in the UK, over 3000 women will be diagnosed with cervical  cancer and almost 1000 women will die from the disease.

If you are aged 70, 78 or 79 please make an appointment with the practice nurse for your shingles vaccine. vaccination6

If you are between the age of 18 - 24 please check with reception that you have had two doses of MMR before going to university.

-------------------------------- Watch out measles about!

Measles is a highly infectious viral illness. It can be very unpleasant and possibly lead to serious complications, including blindness and even death. We recommend that everyone over 12 months of age has the MMR vaccine. it is never too late to receive it. If you are not sure whether you or your children need the MMR vaccine please talk to your doctor, nurse or health visitor.  


Our phone lines are becoming increasingly busy. We have 3 receptionists on duty from 8am to answer calls and book appointments.

Please give as much information as possible to the receptionist so they can direct you to the most appropriate appointment.

They will always try to do their best.

It may not be that you don’t need to see a Doctor.

We have appointments available Monday to Friday with our practice support/link workers who are able to help you with Financial matters , Benefit claims and appeals, housing issues, social isolation or just general support the list is endless. They will see you in the surgery or meet you out in the community according to your needs, they will support you with access to health and exercise programmes and even accompany you if necessary


All GP appointments are available to book online.

Appointments on MONDAYS and FRIDAYS are “book on the day” for urgent matters that cant wait until a routine appointment is free.

TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY the appointments are routine and can be booked in advance . These appointments allow the Doctor more time to manage long term conditions or complex issues.

We have a Nurse practitioner who is able to see minor conditions such as: chest infection, water infections, ear infection, rashes or other general problems.

If we are unable to offer you an appointment and you consider your matter urgent you will be offered an appointment with a GP at either Ponteland Road or Westgate Road walk in centres. These appointments are available between 8am—7-30pm

Children under 15 who are acutely unwell will be assessed by a GP the same day, it may be a telephone assessment so please ensure that we have your correct and up to date telephone number.

URGENT HOME VISITS will only be carried out for acutely unwell     patients who are unable to leave their home, such requests should be made before 10am this will enable the GP to contact the patient to assess them and plan their visits for the day.

An appointment is for 10 mins. Should you require more time please inform the receptionist at the time of booking. 

Please note we offer one appointment per patient.

Please note: the receptionists experience very high volume of calls between 8am and 9am, please be patient. These appointments are available to book online.

Medical emergencies take priority at all times.  During surgery hours, ring the surgery telephone number for help and advice. Please keep your conversation brief and relevant to allow all patients reasonable access to the service.

Out of hours, please ring 111.

The out of hours care is provided by contracted provider. 

Cancelling Appointments

If you are unable to keep an appointment for any reason, please let us know so that we can make it available to someone else.

GP Training

From time to time, medical and nursing students visit the practice for training purposes. With your consent, they will sit in with doctors and nurses to observe consultations.
