------------------------------ Appointment Attendance

In the month of April 53 patients did not attend their appointment at the surgery. This many missed appointments amounts to over 13 hours of wasted time. Please remember to cancel your appointment if you cannot make it to the surgery, this allows the reception staff to re-book your appointment so somebody else can be seen.

--------------------------------- Cervical Screening

Ladies please check with reception if your smear is due. Every year in the UK, over 3000 women will be diagnosed with cervical  cancer and almost 1000 women will die from the disease.

-------------------------------- Shingles Vaccine

If you are aged 70, 78 or 79 please make an appointment with the practice nurse for your shingles vaccine. vaccination6

 

----------------------------------- Going to university?

If you are between the age of 18 - 24 please check with reception that you have had two doses of MMR before going to university.

-------------------------------- Watch out measles about!

Measles is a highly infectious viral illness. It can be very unpleasant and possibly lead to serious complications, including blindness and even death. We recommend that everyone over 12 months of age has the MMR vaccine. it is never too late to receive it. If you are not sure whether you or your children need the MMR vaccine please talk to your doctor, nurse or health visitor.

A well baby clinic is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30pm – 2.30pm for immunisations.

Smoking Cessation

We have a list of smoking cessation Pharmacists to whom patients can self refer- please ask at reception for details of these Pharmacists. In addition, leaflets on stopping smoking are available; please ask for one if you cannot see one in the waiting area.

We are actively engaged in health education, promoting better health and disease prevention. We are always happy to discuss this with you. In particular, we can arrange primary prevention such as advice on smoking, diet, exercise and immunisations; health screening such as blood pressure checks, cholesterol estimates; and contraceptive services.

Minor surgery

We offer a range of minor surgical procedures, which can be performed in our treatment rooms by our doctors. This can often save unnecessary visits to hospital.

Social services

Social services can help with a wide range of social problems. The team includes home care organisers, social workers and occupational therapists.  You can contact social services on 2863311.

Non-NHS Services

We are happy to undertake medical examinations and reports etc. this work is outside the NHS system and a charge will be made in line with BMA recommended scale.
